Every Day Direct Mail (EDDM)
Affordable Print Advertising, No Mailing List Needed
How Does EDDM Work?
Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) is a marketing service from the USPS that lets businesses send promotions to every address in specific neighborhoods and mail carrier routes, without needing a mailing list.
You choose USPS carrier routes (delivery routes) based on the area you’d like to target, and your mail piece gets delivered to every home or business on those routes.
You can select neighborhoods based on:
- ZIP codes
- Carrier routes
- Radius around your business
Once the route is chosen, Oregon Data will print, address, and deliver your mail piece to the USPS.
Is EDDM a good fit for your mailing?
Cost-Effective & Easy to Use
- EDDM postage rates are cheaper than traditional addressed direct mail
- You don’t need customer addresses
- No database management
- No special mailing permit needed
Saturation
Ideal for saturating an entire neighborhood or target area within a specified distance from your business to:
- Promote grand openings
- Deliver coupons and special offers
- Highlight serrvice-area businesses
- Announce community events or notifications
Relevancy
- Great for local brand awareness based on the recipient’s community
- Good for small businesses, restaurants, realtors, and local political campaigns
Stand Out
- Printed mail now gets more attention than digital ads which have saturated our online experiences
Mailer Size & Quantity Restrictions
- An EDDM mail piece must be flat, weigh no more than 3.3 oz, and meet their width and height requirements, which are larger than standard postcards
- Send a minimum of 200 mail pieces
Broad Targeting
- While some of the costs are cheaper using EDDM, the mail is less targeted since everyone on the route receives the mail.
- You are not able to target individual people using an EDDM list.
Generic Messaging
- To get the best return on your investment, you’ll want to make sure your mailer messaging is broad enough to apply to most of the recipients on the carrier route.
